Thailand is one of the top destinations for Chinese steel structure exports in 2026, ranking in the top five under HS 73089000 in August. The Eastern Economic Corridor, automotive and electronics manufacturing, cold-chain logistics and e-commerce warehousing are all expanding, and with a concentrated rainy season plus year-round heat and humidity, programme and corrosion protection are what owners watch most.
Why steel works for Thai projects
Thailand's rainy season runs roughly May to October and disrupts cast-in-place concrete. Factory-made steel members are bolted on site in a dry process that can continue year-round, which suits fast-track factories and warehouses. On soft ground, steel also cuts foundation cost.
- Single-storey plants typically use 24–36 m portal frames at 8–9 m column spacing for racking and production lines
- Cranes of 5–20 t can be pre-provisioned with brackets and rails, added later without stopping production
- Phased expansion: build phase one, extend the same bay line later without demolition
Codes and climate
We design to the Thai industrial standard system TIS 1223 (steel structures) and TIS 1237 (building loads), using SS400 / Q235B and SM490 grades. Tropical heat, humidity and coastal salt air raise the corrosion requirement, so we default to C3–C5 protection.
- Seismic: parameters taken for the project location where Thai codes require them
- Corrosion: hot-dip galvanizing (≥85 µm) or galvanized plus seal coat for C3–C5
- Envelope: steeper roof pitch and larger gutters sized to local storm intensity
- Insulation: rock wool or PU sandwich panels to cut roof radiant heat
Delivery and logistics: Shanghai to Laem Chabang or Bangkok
Detailing and fabrication are done at our Shanghai and Jiangsu plants. Knocked-down members ship to Laem Chabang or Bangkok Port, or by land via the China–Laos railway. Member marking drawings, packing lists and erection instructions are included.
- Detailing 7–10 days, fabrication 25–35 days, sea freight about 7–12 days
- FOB / CIF / DAP terms; we assist with Thai customs documentation
- High loading density means fewer containers for the tonnage, cutting landed cost
