Indonesia is the No.1 destination by value for Chinese steel structure exports in 2026 — USD 128 million in August alone, 6.88% of the category. Nickel smelting, data centres, e-commerce warehousing and manufacturing expansion are all moving at once, and steel is the default structure for factories and warehouses because it is fast and can be extended in phases.
Why steel dominates Indonesian projects
Much of Indonesia sits on soft soil in high-seismicity zones. A steel frame weighs roughly one third of a concrete equivalent, which cuts piling and foundation cost, while factory-made members bolted on site avoid the monsoon delay that hits cast-in-place concrete.
- Single-storey warehouses typically use 24–36 m portal frames with 8–9 m column spacing for racking and forklifts
- Cranes of 5–20 t can be pre-provisioned with brackets and rails, added later without stopping operations
- Phased expansion: build phase one, extend the same bay line in phase two without demolishing anything
Codes and climate
We design to SNI 1729 (steel), SNI 1726 (seismic) and SNI 1727 (loads), using SS400 / Q235B and SM490 grades. Coastal salt air plus year-round heat and humidity make corrosion the decisive factor, so we default to C4–C5 protection.
- Seismic: parameters per SNI 1726 zoning, with high-ductility detailing at beam-column joints
- Corrosion: hot-dip galvanizing (≥85 µm) or galvanized plus seal coat for C4–C5 environments
- Envelope: steeper roof pitch and larger gutters sized for tropical downpours
- Insulation: PU edge-sealed or rock wool panels for cold stores and food plants
Delivery and logistics: Shanghai to Jakarta or Surabaya
Detailing and fabrication happen at our Shanghai and Jiangsu plants. Members are packed knocked-down and shipped from Shanghai to Tanjung Priok (Jakarta) or Tanjung Perak (Surabaya), with packing list, member mark drawings and erection instructions included.
- Detailing 7–10 days, fabrication 25–35 days, sea freight 7–12 days depending on port
- FOB / CIF / DAP terms; we assist with Indonesian customs documentation
- High loading density means fewer containers for the same tonnage — lower freight per tonne
