Get a Logistics Warehouse solution

Australia ranks in Volza's global top five buyer countries, with mining, warehousing and logistics, agriculture and data centres driving most steel structure demand. Australia uses AS 4100 for steel structures and AS/NZS 1170 for loads; the northern coast lies in a cyclone zone where wind and corrosion are the governing conditions, and mining and resource projects often bring heavy-duty and weathering requirements. Entering Australia requires design to the AS/NZS system and compliance with welding certification requirements.

Main demand in Australia

Mining and resource projects in Western Australia generate large volumes of industrial building and facility steel, while the east coast concentrates warehousing and logistics, data centres and agricultural construction. Australian projects often require weathering steel and heavy-duty design, with clear requirements on weld quality and certification. Steel's speed, expandability and suitability for remote sites give it a high share of Australian industrial buildings.

AS/NZS codes, cyclones and corrosion

Design follows AS 4100 (steel structures) and AS/NZS 1170 (loads), with welding to AS/NZS 1554; members entering the market usually need to meet the corresponding certification requirements. The northern coast lies in a cyclone zone where wind and salt spray corrosion govern; inland areas have strong UV and large temperature swings, so coatings must weather well.

Delivery and logistics: Shanghai / Ningbo to Melbourne, Sydney, Fremantle

Detailing and fabrication take place at our Shanghai and Jiangsu facilities; knocked-down members ship from Shanghai or Ningbo to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle with marking drawings, packing lists and erection guidance.

Frequently asked questions

Can you issue calculations to AS 4100?
Yes. We design to AS 4100 and AS/NZS 1170 and issue calculations, connection details and welding documents; welding follows AS/NZS 1554, and we can work with a suitably certified fabricator and third-party inspection where required.
What is special about Australian cyclone zones?
Cyclone zones have high wind loads with intense rainfall, so wind values are taken by region, roof and cladding fixing is significantly densified, edges, corners and connections are reinforced, and drainage and waterproofing need care. Steel and coatings are also selected for the coastal corrosion environment.
Who handles site erection?
We provide member marking, erection sequence drawings and remote technical support; site erection is normally carried out by a qualified Australian contractor, and we can send engineers to site to guide.
