A 72m-span roof frame positioned by incremental sliding — no crane access needed over the court.
This gymnasium roof is a 72m-span bolted-ball space frame. With supporting buildings on all sides, large cranes could not work above the court.
The solution was incremental sliding: a platform at one end, sections assembled and slid forward one by one until the whole frame reached position. No heavy crane access required, and the court floor and stands were untouched.
For wide-span projects with constrained sites, separating the assembly zone from the final position is a cost-effective answer — the same idea works for new roofs in renovation projects.
