A 42m elevator test tower with shaft verticality held within 8mm — all welds ultrasonically tested.
An elevator test tower demands far higher steel accuracy than ordinary plants: the shaft is the datum for guide-rail installation, and verticality must stay within 8mm over 42 meters.
Our approach: control welding deformation to negative tolerances during fabrication, hot-dip galvanize the shaft columns, and re-survey verticality every three levels during erection with a laser plumb instrument — no accumulated error left overnight.
The tower also takes impact loads from test elevators, so all primary welds are Class 1 with 100% UT. The project has passed acceptance and is in service.
Special structures — test towers, stacks, flare stacks — look small but are among the most technically dense categories. Clients with such needs are welcome to talk to us.
